Nagoya North and South Chapters Celebrate Eid al-Adha at Lagoona Beach

Under a large outdoor pavilion, men, women, and children gather as a man in a prayer cap bends down to greet a young child, with more families standing and holding hands nearby.

On Sunday, May 31, Islamic Mission Japan's Nagoya North and South chapters jointly organized a Eid al-Adha celebration for Bangladeshi Muslims of the greater Aichi region. About 150 people, including families from various parts of Aichi, gathered at Lagoona Beach in the city of Gamagori for the day-long program.

The event featured a communal lunch of qurbani meat, games for children including a biscuit-eating contest and Eid gifts, a pillow game for women, and football and badminton for men, alongside a discussion on the significance of qurbani (sacrifice). The seaside breeze and children's laughter filled the beach throughout the day, with small teams playing football and badminton around the venue.

During a break for Asr prayer, a short discussion session was moderated by Rasel Mohammad, Secretary of the Nagoya South chapter. Shahidul Islam Mallik, the chapter's Education and Training Secretary, spoke on the meaning of qurbani, after which two participants — the youngest and the oldest among those present in Japan — shared memories of celebrating Eid abroad. Adib spoke on behalf of the younger generation. Also present were Nagoya South chapter officials Omar Faruk (Finance Secretary), Fateul Islam Bijoy (Publicity and Publication Secretary), and Faizullah Siddiqui (Social Welfare Secretary).

The program concluded with closing remarks from Azim Alam Bhuiyan, President of the Nagoya South chapter.
