Kanagawa Muslim Community Holds Eid Reunion, Pitha Festival and Cultural Evening

The Kanagawa Muslim community organized an "Eid Reunion, Pitha Festival and Islamic Cultural Evening" at Sagamihara Eidgah Mosque, bringing together around 180 expatriate Bangladeshis from various professions. The program was hosted by Engineer Shawkat Akbar.

Hafez Maulana Saber Ahmed, Central President of Islamic Mission Japan and Khatib of Baitul Aman Jame Masjid, attended as chief guest. A highlight of the evening was a spread of roughly 24 varieties of traditional pitha and sweets prepared by community members, alongside performances by child artists from the Dishari Shilpi Gosthi and Saita Sakura Shilpi Gosthi groups.

In his opening remarks, Kanagawa businessman Misbahul Kabir said the community wishes to celebrate joy within an Islamic environment rather than adopting foreign cultural practices, and urged support for organizations working to help Muslims preserve their faith and practice in Japan. In his address, Hafez Maulana Saber Ahmed said such gatherings aim not merely at temporary enjoyment but at familiarizing children with wholesome Islamic culture, and called on parents to raise their children in an Islamic environment.

The organizing committee thanked all attendees, apologized for any shortcomings, and pledged to hold further such events in the future. The evening concluded with dinner.
