Fukuoka Chapter Holds Educational Session for Students and Newcomers

A group of men, mostly young students, sit closely together on a tatami-floored room, listening to an elder in a white robe and cap who gestures while speaking, with a laptop and papers on a low table in front of him.

Islamic Mission Japan's Fukuoka Chapter organized an educational and guidance session, called "Shikkha Boithok," for students and newcomers studying in Japan. The organisation's central president attended as chief guest and keynote speaker, addressing attendees on education, career, ethics, and Islamic values.

In his address, the central president said students coming to Japan should prioritize education, skill development, and self-improvement, cautioning against exceeding legal working-hour limits for the sake of extra income. He stressed that Japanese language proficiency, ideally up to JLPT N2, is essential for employment, further study, and integration into society.

He also warned against excessive use of social media, linking it to anxiety, low self-confidence, and academic setbacks, and urged young people to choose honest, faith-conscious friends over harmful company. He noted that a person's character reflects on the wider Bangladeshi and Muslim community, and encouraged students to strengthen their connection with prayer and Qur'an recitation as a source of mental calm.

The session also included advice for prospective students still in Bangladesh, recommending they learn Japanese, gain computer skills, and obtain a driving license before arrival. The event was attended by Fukuoka Chapter president Mahbub Ilahi, other chapter leaders, members, and students from various educational institutions across Japan.
