ICF Japan organized the International Kids Qur'an Recitation and Hifz Competition 2026 on Sunday, 23 August, at Baitul Aman Masjid Complex in Koshigaya, Saitama. The event was designed to give children and teenagers living in Japan an opportunity to deepen their connection with the Qur'an through friendly competition.

Participants competed in two main categories. The recitation category was divided by age group — 3 to 6, 7 to 12, and 13 and above — while the hifz (memorization) category was split between those who had memorized 1 to 5 Juz and those who had memorized 6 to 30 Juz.

Winners in the final round received cash prizes ranging from ¥30,000 for first place down to ¥1,000 for fourth through tenth place, along with certificates and crests. All children who reached the final round were awarded a medal and certificate in recognition of their participation.

The competition forms part of ICF Japan's ongoing efforts to support Islamic education among young Muslims growing up in Japan.
