The Islamic Cultural Foundation Japan held the International Qur'an Recitation and Hifz Competition 2026 at a hall in Akabane, Tokyo, on Saturday afternoon. The program, moderated by Dr. Mehedi Hasan Mahfuz, opened with a Qur'an recitation and featured young participants reciting before a panel of judges.

Abdullah Al Maruf, Secretary General of Islamic Mission Japan, attended as chief guest. He spoke about the activities of the Islamic Cultural Foundation and called for spreading the message of Islam in Japan, stressing that reciting the Qur'an is not enough on its own — understanding its teachings and applying them in daily life should be the real goal.

The judges praised the effort behind the competition, noting that at a time when many are drawn to entertainment culture, some continue working tirelessly to raise children in the light of faith, and they prayed for the parents supporting that effort. The program concluded with remarks from Sarwar Alam Joha, President of IMJ's Tokyo Chapter, who chaired the session.
