Aichi Islamic Bunka Center
Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture
The Aichi Islamic Bunka Center is a multipurpose Islamic and cultural centre being established in Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture, under the supervision of Islamic Cultural Foundation Japan, the affiliated organisation of Islamic Mission Japan.
It is intended to give Muslims in the Chubu region a permanent place for daily and Jumu’ah prayers, Islamic education and community life, while offering the neighbouring community a venue for cultural exchange.
A permanent home for worship and learning
The centre is planned to accommodate approximately 400 people praying at one time, with a separate ladies’ hall for around 200 sisters.
Alongside the prayer facilities, the project provides for a Kids Islamic School and a Hifz Academy, Qur’an-based lectures for children and adults, and a library and research centre supporting Islamic study, publications and exhibitions.
Planned facilities
Main prayer area and separate women’s prayer facilities; a children’s zone with playground; a multipurpose hall and kitchen for weddings, Eid celebrations, festivals and community gatherings; a library and Islamic research centre; and a nursing room for infants and mothers.
The centre is also intended to provide arrangements for janazah prayer and funeral procedures, and to serve as a place of shelter and assistance during disasters. Parking is planned for approximately 40 cars and 30 bicycles.
The site
The property covers approximately 482 tsubo (about 1,600 m²) in Toyokawa City, close to Goyu Station on the Meitetsu-Nagoya Line and roughly 2 km from the National Route 1 interchange.
Funding
As set out in the August 2026 appeal, the project requires ¥45,000,000 in total. Approximately ¥15,000,000 had been collected at that point, leaving ¥30,000,000 still to be raised to complete the purchase of the land and building and carry out the necessary renovation.
